In 2021, a review of the production and loading of lithium iron phosphate: In fact, from the perspective of output alone, the lithium iron phosphate battery achieved a surpassing of the ternary battery in May this year. That month, the output of lithium iron phosphate batteries was 8.8GWh, accounting for 63.6% of the total output; the output of ternary batteries was 5.0GWh, accounting for 36.2% of the total output. This became the month in which the monthly output of lithium iron phosphate batteries exceeded that of ternary batteries for the first time in the past three years. And in that month, the annual cumulative output of lithium iron phosphate batteries exceeded the ternary battery for the first time, with the output of 29.4GWh and 29.9GWh from January to May, respectively. From 2018 to 2020, the annual output of domestic lithium iron phosphate batteries is lower than that of ternary batteries. From June to August, the output of lithium iron phosphate batteries exceeded that of ternary batteries for four consecutive months, and the gap between the two was further enlarged, with market share of 56.9% and 42.9%, respectively. So far, the market share of lithium iron phosphate batteries has exceeded that of ternary batteries by nearly 14%.

From January to August, the total output of lithium iron phosphate batteries was 58.1GWh, accounting for 52.1% of the total output, a cumulative increase of 301.8% year-on-year; the cumulative output of ternary batteries was 53.2GWh, accounting for 47.7% of the total output, a cumulative year-on-year increase of 137.2%. This means that in terms of output, lithium iron phosphate batteries have surpassed ternary lithium batteries in terms of volume and year-on-year growth. With the surpassing of production, the proportion of lithium iron phosphate batteries installed in vehicles has also shown an upward trend since May, and in July it surpassed ternary lithium batteries in one fell swoop.

The strong return of lithium iron phosphate batteries this time is inseparable from its own two major advantages, one is cost performance, and the other is safety.

In the past, lithium iron manganese phosphate was limited by its lower electrical conductivity and rate performance, and the commercialization process was slow. With the advancement of modification technologies such as carbon coating, nanotechnology, and lithium supplement technology, its conductivity has been improved to a certain extent, and the industrialization process of lithium iron manganese phosphate has begun to accelerate. At present, lithium iron manganese phosphate is still in the early stage of industrialization, and there are already lithium iron manganese phosphate batteries used in two-wheeled vehicles. In the future, as the technology gradually matures, it is expected to be replaced in power batteries.
